Lactobacillus strains are good bacteria that produce lactic acid in the vagina (this is the acid that keeps our pH level between 3.5 - 4.5 and prevents bad bacteria from overgrowing!). Lactobacillus is the most studied strain of bacteria and has shown time after time its safety and effectiveness in fighting BV. One study showed that taking Lactobacillus on a daily basis cured BV in 87.5% of women after only 4 weeks!
Bifidobacterium is another type of extremely beneficial & friendly bacteria. These pills saved my life honestly
I started seeing a functional medicine doctor for other reasons, products she used gave me a raging yeast infection that unfortunately misdiagnosed as a uti. I took two rounds of antibiotics and the yeast pill, but by this point my vaginal microbiome was destroyed. My doctor essentially gaslit me for 9 months into thinking it was a symptom of my other health conditions: it was not. It was an infection and was refusing to treat. I started other probiotics that didn’t work, but realized they were only 1 billion cfu with no guarantee of surviving stomach acid, shelf life or strains surviving until the exploration date. And I took it for months just hoping that it needed time but literally 1 billion cfu may as well be nothing! Might be good if you have a normal microbiome and want to maintain, but not for someone like me who was suffering from a combination of bv and yeast overgrowth. my story with bacterial vaginosis started a few years ago, it started when I broke up with my boyfriend and was dating different people. My ob gave me a cream, medicine, even boric acid, all didn’t stop the recurring infections. Great for my sex life!
My BV is unfortunately triggered by sex, so it definitely put a dent on my relationship. My boyfriend and I were going through a hard time because I didn’t want to have as much sex just to get a lovely BV infection afterwards. My friend introduced me to vluxe and convinced me to try it. I gave it a full two months without expecting anything massive to change. After about 5 weeks, I started feeling more hydrated down there and it helped with reducing the vaginal burn and itch.
